ABOUT

Hello! I’m Kristin :) I currently live in New York’s Capital Region and work as a Project Coordinator for an architecture and engineering firm. I have my degree in architecture and am currently working towards becoming licensed.

What inspired me to begin Plum Pearls?
I’d say, it’s more like who inspired me. My friends, family, coworkers…all women have inspired me to showcase my style. I believe a woman’s wardrobe should be comprised of both bold colors and statement pieces, as well as classic, timeless pieces. Hence the name, Plum Pearls. (However, never underestimate how fun and eccentric pieces can really spice up a wardrobe!) A plum lip can transform your look making it sultry and mysterious. A strand (or two, or three!) of pearls can refashion a simple outfit into a sophisticated outfit. Although the perfect accessory and a splash of color can remake an outfit, always keep in mind that your best accessory is your smile, and your favorite staple should be confidence. Wear confidence and a smile every day, and you’ll look as good as you feel.

My general style rules:

  • Timeless pieces that will always remain in style are investment pieces. These are the pieces that can be paired with just about anything.  Therefore, theses are the pieces I am happy to spend more for in order to ensure high quality, long-lasting wearability, and comfort.  (I’m a Taurus, comfortable fabrics are a necessity for me).

Some examples of investment pieces:

– Black Leather Heel / Nude Leather Heel

– Tall Brown Boot / Tall Black Boot

– Leather Flats

– Black Purse / Neutral Purse

– Skinny Jean

– White Button-Down Blouse / Black Button-Down Blouse

– Little Black Dress (and for summer – Little White Dress)

– Trench Coat

– Red Lipstick (I love YSL and MAC)

  • Try to spend less on trendy items.  They may only last a season or two.  However, don’t buy so cheap that you sacrifice comfort.
  • If a dress, pair of pants, etc. does not fit right everywhere, but it is exactly what you’re looking for and it may be slightly too long, or a little large in the waist — don’t disregard it.  Tailor it!  Tailors are your wardrobe’s best friend.  We’re all different heights, shapes, and sizes.  Nothing is going to fit perfect, so don’t get frustrated.  It’s worth tailoring an item to fit you perfectly.  Perfect fit = confidence :)  It’s worth spending the money for a tailor when you feel good in what you’re wearing.
  • When all you have is five minutes to get out the door, look alive, and {somewhat} rested:

– Put on a white button down shirt

– Throw on your skinny jeans or any of your favorite pairs

– Sling on some polished pumps

– Brush on a coat or two of mascara in black to liven up those gorgeous eyes

– Smooth on some lip stain that can double as cheek stain to give your face a rosy glow

– ALWAYS cover your face in SPF (I like CeraVe daily moisturizer for day time)

– Twist your hair up into a top knot

You’re ready to go beauties :)
